US Senate passes NY dam legislation

3 March 2006

Senator John Bonacic of Mt. Hope said that the City of New York’s Department of Environmental Protection has not adequately maintained and monitored its dams, and legislation has been passed to increase the frequency and detail of inspections. The reports will also become available to downstream municipalities.

This bill follows one the Senate passed on 13 February to strip New York of its authority to regulate reservoir levels.
