Vietnam pumps up power

28 June 2005

Each of the 1200MW stations will cost an estimated US$700-800M. Construction on the first station is expected to start in 2018.

Energy experts from the Japanese International Cooperation Agency advised EVN of three possible sites for these stations – Phu Yen Dong and Phu Yen Tay in northern mountainous Son La province and Bac Ai in the southern central area.

EVN will formally submit its national electricity development plan for 2005-15, including proposals for when and where it intends to build the pumped storage stations, to the Government by the end of this year.
