Vision 2025 to include five dam schemes

Under the authority’s ‘Vision 2025’ plan, five dams and three canal projects are to be completed within the next three years.

The dam projects are:

• Sabakzai, a 30Mm3 capacity dam with costs of around US$17.4M, expected to be completed by December 2005,

• Gomal Zam dam with 1.4Bm3 capacity, costing US$223M, to be completed by June 2006,

• Mirani dam, with 372Mm3 capacity to be completed by 2006 at a cost of US$100M,

• Satpara, a 100Mm3 capacity dam worth US$36M and due to be finished by the end of 2006,

• Raising of Mangla dam at a cost of US$1.1B, which is to add 3.5Bm3 of storage capacity by mid 2007.
