Voith Siemens opens generator workshop in Shanghai

The workshop has 3500m2 of space to manufacture generator poles and stator bars, and can produce units up to 700MW.

Voith said the facility has been built to meet growing demand in China as well as other countries in Asia. The company noted that forecasts are for 190GW of installed hydro capacity in China by 2010, increasing by 110GW in the following decade.

Seperately, the company recently won a major turbine contract for the 2.6GW Dagangshan project under development in Sichuan province.
