World Bank loans to Sri Lanka dam safety, water resources project

Under the scheme, some 80 dams are to be investigated to improve operational efficiency.

In addition, the project will involve establishing institutional arrangements for safety management, operations and maintenance of major dams. The Bank said that the project will pay particular attention safety in 32 “high risk” category dams.

The loan term is 20 years following a 10 year grace period.
