Wuskwatim dam given go ahead

22 November 2005

A study report by Fisheries Canada and Transport Canada has concluded that the 200MW dam on the Burntwood river – Manitoba’s largest planned construction project - is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.

The study of the US$760M structure took into account mitigative measures Manitoba Hydro plans to install to compensate for fish habitat loss when 37ha of land is flooded as part of the project.
