Vietnam sees first unit commissioned at A Vuong

The plant's two 105MW unit are being supplied by a joint venture of Power Machines and Sumitomo, which won the turnkey contract in 2005.

Power Machines said that the second unit is to commissioned by January.

A Vuong is being developed by the state power company Electricity of Viet Nam (EVN). The plant is located in Quang Nam province. Construction started in 2003 and is close to schedule for completion. It is expected to produce up to 815GWh per year of electricity.

Separately in Vietnam, the JV is also supplying a pair of 55MW generating units for the Pleykrong hydropower plant.
