The Inter-American Development Bank and the China Development Bank have agreed to help finance the $500M Amaila Falls hydro project in Guyana.

According to Reuters, the banks agreed to back the project at a recent meeting in Washington. The terms of financing are still to be agreed.

Work on the project – being developed by Sithe Global Power - is expected to start in the middle of next year.
