Under the Statkraft Fund, the renewable energy firm has awarded a total of NOK 5M (US$923,183) to a number of organizations for a range of projects. Norwegian Church Aid will receive a total of NOK 1.5M (US$277,000) for two projects, one for the small hydro plants in Laos, the other to offer farmers in Vietnam clean energy, better sanitation and effective management of agricultural waste through biogas plants.

Another organization to receive funds is Norwegian People’s Aid, which will receive NOK 1M for its water program in Somalia. This program will provide clean drinking water by securing water sources and develop infrastructure for water distribution.

The Statkraft Fund has been established to support public interest purposes. The fund awards up to NOK 5M each year to NGOs, foundations or similar following application or initiatives from Statkraft’s corporate management.
