The piece, weighing 149.5 tons and 4.18m high, left alstom’s factory in Taubaté on 1 February and was delivered on 26 February. The first runner was delivered in June last year, the second in September, and the third in November 2009, all within the deadline defined with project developer Foz do Chapecó Energia, a venture of CPFL – Companhia Paulista Força e Luz, Furnas e CEEE – Companhia Estadual de Geração e Transmissão de Energia Elétrica.

Alstom signed a Eur 150M contract in March 2007 for the production, delivery and assembly supervision for the equipment of the four 213.75MW generator units. The first unit is expected to enter operation in August this year and the last in February 2011.

In addition to the runners, Alstom is responsible for the supply of all hydromechanical and lifting equipment, four generator units (vertical synchronous generator and Francis turbine), elevator transformers, digital supervision and control system, as well as all auxiliary mechanical and electrical systems of the plant.
