Alstom’s share in the contract is valued at approximately €10M. The scope of work includes the design, manufacturing, delivery to site and supervision of erection of two sets of 77MW turbine and generator as well as mechanical and electrical auxiliaries. They are scheduled to be put into commercial operation in August 2015.
The turbines and generators will be manufactured at Alstom’s hydropower industrial facility in Tianjin, China.
Located on the Dong Nai river in Dak Nong and Lam Dong provinces, the Dong Nai 5 hydropower plant is being developed by Vinacomin Power with a total investment of €227M. The project includes two units with a capacity of 154 MW (77×2), and will generate and supply to national grid about 616 GWh per year. This project is part of Power Development Master Plan VII of Vietnam’s government.
Vinacomin Power is one of the three state owned power producers in Vietnam, with four coal fired power plants in operation and three further plants under construction. Alstom has already a long and successful partnership with the company, having notably supplied two sets of 50MW Coal-fired boilers to its Cao Ngan Coal Fired Power Plant in 2003.
Alstom to supply Dong Nai 5, Vietnam
Alstom and its consortium partner Hydrochina Huadong Engineering Corporation have been awarded a contract worth around €20M by Vinacomin Power Holding Corporation to supply electromechanical equipment for Dong Nai 5 hydropower project in Vietnam.
