The additions come from its agreement to acquire NovaGreenPower, a wholly-owned subsidiary of mining company NovaGold Resources for Can$35M (US$32.8M).

The NovaGreen acquisition will add 195MW with Forest Kerr and 130MW in three additional run-of-river projects. AltaGas already has 70MW of run-of-river in its portfolio that is in operation or under development in the province.

AltaGas said the projects are expected to be secured by long-term power supply contracts.

The feasibility for the Forest Kerr development was recently completed and indicated the poptential for a larger installed capacity on the Iskut river than previously estimated level 0f 115MW. NovaGreenPower worked on the studies with Hatch Energy.
