American Governor Company (AGC) has announced it has opened an office in São Paulo, Brazil for its subsidiary American Governor do Brasil (AGB), coinciding with the company’s fifteenth anniversary.
American Governor do Brasil is headed by Marketing Director Suzane Frisselli and Technical Director Marcelo Renault. Frisselli comes to AGB with experience as the Vice President for the Latin American Association for Renewable Energy. As a Partner and the Commercial and Corporate Director for Central Elétrica Anhanguera SA. (CELAN) for over 30 years, Renault brings a vast breadth of knowledge and experience to the endeavor. Renault also serves as the President of the Latin American Association for Renewable Energy and has been in the electric industry for over 40 years.
"This is an exciting and important move for American Governor as we continue to expand our global footprint," said Roger Clarke-Johnson, Western Region Manager and Marketing Manager. "As part of our long-term global strategy, American Governor aims to open regional governor support offices worldwide, staffed by native speakers who provide full-time sales, service, and technical support to their region. Our goal is to offer other regions of the world the same high level of responsive, experienced governor support that our North American customers currently enjoy."
The incorporation of American Governor do Brasil will allow AGC to better serve the growing hydropower market in South America, the company said. More than three-quarters of Brazil’s electricity is generated from hydropower with more hydroelectric dams and power stations under construction that would add almost 15,000MW in capacity. AGC has already successfully supported Brazilian utilities with parts and service through this subsidiary.
AGC has provided legacy governor spare parts and expert field service support to several powerplants in Brazil and is already pursuing several digital conversion projects with key customers in Brazil and elsewhere in South America.
