The expansion of the group took major strides forward in 2006 when andritz acquired va-tech Hydro, and the purchase was followed by Tigep in 2007.

Most significantly, last year it bought the GEHI joint venture, which held the majority of GE’s hydro portfolio, but Andritz also then took the remaining hydro activities of GE.

The re-branding is part of the consolidation of the business which, last October, Andritz said would see the GE experience being used to broaden market coverage, especially for Francis turbines. Going forward the group wants average sales growth of 10% per year.
