ANDRITZ has secured a contract to supply four turbine-generator units for the 600MW Khorlochhu hydropower project in Bhutan’s Trashiyangtse District. Awarded by Khorlochhu Hydro Power Limited, the contract is valued in the upper double-digit million-euro range and was included in ANDRITZ’s order intake for the second quarter of 2026.

ANDRITZ will design, manufacture, supply, install, test and commission four Pelton turbines and generators, alongside auxiliary equipment and balance of plant. The company will execute the project through its manufacturing facilities in India, supported by its global network.

Khorlochhu is expected to generate approximately 2.524TWh of electricity annually, making it one of Bhutan’s larger hydropower projects. Hydropower is a major contributor to the country’s economy and energy supply.

Khorlochhu Hydro Power Limited is a joint venture between Druk Green Power Corporation Limited and Tata Power Company Limited.

“With ANDRITZ as our technology partner, we are confident in delivering a world-class facility that supports Bhutan’s green energy expansion and sustainability goals,” the project company said.

ANDRITZ is involved in several other hydropower projects in Bhutan and operates Bhutan Automation & Engineering Ltd, a joint venture with Druk Green Power Corporation Limited.
