AzerEnerji is building two hydropower plants on the Tartar River in Azerbaijan’s Ağdərə district. Çardaqlı-1 will have a capacity of 8.2MW and Çardaqlı-2 a capacity of 6.8MW.
The works include water intakes and powerhouses for both plants. AzerEnerji said it is installing a total of 11.4km of diversion pipelines, each 2,400mm in diameter, across mountainous terrain.
The company is also rebuilding the 10.4MW Həsənriz hydropower plant and replacing the existing 110/35/10kV Həsənriz substation with a digital facility. According to the company the substation will improve supply to local consumers and industrial facilities, and enable electricity from Sərsəng and other hydropower plants in the area to be transferred to the national grid.
A 42km, 110kV double-circuit transmission line between Kəlbəcər and Həsənriz has already been built. AzerEnerji said its connection to a 110kV line from the direction of Şuşa forms a ring supply arrangement for the Karabakh region.
The company also reported that the new 14.7MW Qozlukörpü hydropower plant in Ağdərə opened in January 2026.
