Bilfinger has been awarded a contract by Ennskraftwerke AG to overhaul two generator units at the Garsten-St. Ulrich hydropower plant in Upper Austria.
The industrial services company will carry out the prefabrication, refurbishment and installation of rotating and static equipment at the plant, with the work scheduled for completion by March 2028.
The overhaul will include replacement of the two stators, all rotor poles and the fans, which Bilfinger will manufacture before work begins at the plant. The remaining generator components will be inspected and refurbished before being returned to service. Bilfinger’s scope covers the full overhaul process, including prefabrication, generator disassembly, refurbishment, installation and commissioning.
Located in the municipalities of St. Ulrich and Garsten, the hydropower plant generates an average of 157GWh of electricity annually.
The contract continues a long-standing relationship between Bilfinger and Ennskraftwerke across several of the Austrian company’s hydropower plants.

Ennskraftwerke operates 12 hydropower plants on the Enns River and two on the Steyr River.
