The primary objective of this conference is to allow dams and hydropower practitioners around the world to gather, present, and share their knowledge and experience in order to promote and enhance related research and activities.
In recent years, dams and hydropower works have considerably been growing in Iran. At present, around 1,000 dams are under operation, construction, or study. Among those, 543 dams including small and large dams with the total capacity of 46Bm3 are operating. Also, more than 60% of the dams’ reservoirs are associated with hydropower projects. It has been estimated that the total hydropower energy generation in Iran is about 60,000 GWH. The total installed, under construction, and under investigation capcity is 8500MW, 6300MW, and 16,000MW, respectively.
