The company said execution of the US$12.5M contract was expected to take 20 months to complete, and the work would be undertaken by its subsidiary Cavico Bridge and Tunnel.

Construction of the headrace on the US$260M scheme will involve excavation of a 1km tunnel that is 10m wide. The 190MW hydro project is being built near Bac Tra My city in Quang Nam province, almost 70km west of Da Nang city.

In recent months the group has been awarded a succession of tunnel contracts on hydro projects in the country and is completing others. The project list includes Za Hung, Buon Kuop, Nam Chien 2, Daksrong, Thai An, Ban Ve and Dong Nai 3. In addition, Cavico is becoming active as a developer on the Dak My cascade.
