The company reported that concreting works are underway on the 2.3km long tunnel. In total, the cost of the construction works on the project, including tunnelling the less than 3m wide bore, is approximately US$4.36M.
Dasiat will have an installed capacity of 13.5MW and is to generate 57.7GWh of electricity annually.
The project is being developed by Southern Hydropower Joint Stock Co on Dasiat river in Lam Dong province, about 250km north of Ho Chi Minh City. The plant is downstream of the Dong Nai 3 and 4 plants where Cavico is also working.
Cavico was awarded the contract for the construction services at Dasiat two years ago.
Separately, the company has been awarded additional work at the Ta Trach reservoir project to build an inlet tunnel for diversion of construction and flood discharge.
The new contract is valued at US$18.5M – much greater than the US$3.4M initial contract, awarded mid-year, to build six dams for the project in Thua Thien Hue province.
The scheme is being developed by Hydropower Management No5, part of the Ministry of Agriculture and farming.
