Thailand’s CKPower Public Company Limited (CKP) reported continued profit growth for the third quarter and the first nine months of 2025, driven mainly by strong hydropower output and reduced financial costs, according to Managing Director Mr. Thanawat Trivisvavet.
The company posted a core net profit of THB 1,227m (USD 37.9m) in Q3/2025 and THB 1,643m (US$50.7m) for the nine-month period, up THB 641m (US$19.8m), or 110%, and THB 1,151m(US$35.5m), or 234% year over year, respectively.
CKP said the improvement was supported by sustained high water flows at the Xayaburi hydroelectric power plant, which maintained optimal operating conditions throughout the period. Xayaburi Power Company Limited (XPCL) recorded a 27% increase in electricity sales compared with the same period last year. Lower financing costs in line with global interest rate trends also contributed to results.
The company reported a share of core operating profit from XPCL of THB 904m (US$27.9m) in Q3 and THB 1,125m (US$34.7m) for the nine months, increases of THB 536m (US$16.5m) and THB 1,110m (US$34.3m), respectively.
Nam Ngum 2 Power Company Limited (NN2) also saw higher revenue due to increased reservoir inflows. CKP noted that inflows in July 2025 were the highest since NN2 began commercial operations, supporting a 26% year-over-year increase in electricity sales.
Mr. Thanawat said: “NN2 benefited from relatively high inflows into its reservoir, particularly in the third quarter, due to the impact of Tropical Storm ‘Wipha,’ which resulted in a high reservoir water level. It is expected that the water level will remain high through the end of this year, supporting electricity generation into the first quarter of 2026. In addition, the downward trend in policy interest rates in both the United States and Thailand is expected to help reduce financial costs and continue to support CKPower’s operating performance into 2026. As for Luang Prabang Hydroelectric Power Project, construction progress reached 59% completion as of the end of September 2025 in line with plan.”
He added that CKPower will maintain its development focus: “CKPower remains committed to driving growth through the development of renewable energy and enhancing energy security, while contributing to Thailand’s transition toward a low-carbon society. The Company strives to ensure a stable and reliable energy supply alongside promoting and supporting innovation in energy efficiency to enhance electricity generation performance. CKPower also aims to raise awareness on energy conservation across its entire value chain as part of its journey toward achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.”
