The contract, awarded by the Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA), includes the detailed design for the project and development of tender documents.
The feasibility study is expected to recommend remedial measures to overcome defects in the civil structure, while also investigating sediment management at the plant. Rehabilitation work will also be needed on the plant’s six generating units.
The Warsak plant is located on the Kabul River, and was financed in part by the Canadian government. The first phase of the project was completed in 1960, with the commissioning of the first four units. The two additional units were added in 1981.
Engineering firm RSW is owned by Aecom.
