The new hydro capacity represents just over a quarter of the 2.65GW of total new capacity that was commissioned by the Chinese independent power company in the half year to 30 June.
The majority of the new capacity in H1-’09 was coal-fired and only 58.5MW of wind power capacity was built.
At 30 June, Datang Power’s total installed generating capacity was almost 27.8GW.
Existing hydro assets include 1750MW held by Chongqing Datang International Pengshui Hydropower Development Co, and 152MW with Qinghai Datang International Zhiganglaka Hydropower Generation Development Co.
