US power utility Florida Power & Light is negotiating to become a partner in Chile’s Gener power company.
Gener has expansion plans of its own as it hopes to expand into Argentina and to bid for the privatisation of power plants in Latin America.
Gener is 20% controlled by Angelini group, with pension funds holding 33.4%. It accounts for 23% of the power generated in Chile and has an installed capacity of 1748MW, of which 244.9MW is from hydroelectric plants.
