KGS International, a hydropower engineering firm, is expanding its US operations with growing offices in Sacramento, California, and Seattle, Washington. The company says the expansion supports its commitment to renewable energy infrastructure.

KGS International opened its Sacramento office in 2023. Under the leadership of Phillip Cantarinha, Regional Director of Power and Energy, and Amy Deakyne, Regional Director of Hydro Structures and Dams, the office has grown to more than 20 employees and secured over a dozen master service agreements with local hydropower clients.

Sacramento serves as a key hub for hydropower and water resource management, providing an ideal location for KGS International’s engineering services.

In Seattle, where the company has operated since 2017 under the leadership of Andi Bogdanovic, growth has prompted a move to a larger office space. The addition of Nathan Rockwood as a co-leader strengthens the company’s presence in Washington and Oregon.

“KGS International is committed to supporting the hydropower industry with innovative engineering solutions that enhance the efficiency, safety, and sustainability of energy infrastructure,” said Adam Pawlikewich, Principal at KGS. “Our growing teams in Sacramento and Seattle are well-positioned to meet the evolving needs of our clients and contribute to the long-term success of renewable energy initiatives.”

KGS International provides a range of hydropower engineering services, including: hydropower plant design and upgrades; dam safety and rehabilitation; structural inspections and assessments; power and energy solutions; and construction material testing and oversight.

With California’s goal of 100% clean energy by 2045 and the increasing demand for renewable energy in the Pacific Northwest, KGS International says it remains focused on partnering with utilities, government agencies, and private sector clients to improve hydropower infrastructure.
