The hydro plant, on Scotland’s Movern peninsula in Lochaber, is one of four nominees in Best Renewable Project Award category, sponsored by E.On Ltd. The full list is:

Kingairloch has been recognised for its community benefits and environmental considerations. It is the largest conventional hydro scheme constructed in Scotland, UK, since 1963 and the first since then to incorporate a storage reservoir. It comprises a surface power house with a horizontal 3.5MW Francis turbine, a 6m high concrete gravity dam with fish pass, two main intakes, two high pressure GRP pipelines and three buried pipe aqueducts. Output is estimated at more than 14.5GWh/yr, enough to supply over 9000 households.
The 2005 Green Energy Awards ceremony will take place on 8 December in the Royal Museum in Edinburgh, Scotland.
