The Northwest Hydroelectric Association has named Dana Postlewait, P.E., of Kleinschmidt Associates as a recipient of the Pamela E. Klatt Award, recognising his long-term contribution to the hydropower sector in the Pacific Northwest.
The Pamela E. Klatt Award honours the legacy of environmental planner Pamela Klatt, whose work focused on advancing hydropower development while protecting river ecosystems. The award is presented to individuals who demonstrate sustained leadership, collaboration and commitment to responsible hydropower development.
Postlewait has worked in water resources engineering for more than four decades and has contributed to hydropower and fisheries projects across the Pacific Northwest. His work has involved integrating engineering, environmental science and regulatory coordination to develop solutions intended to support energy reliability alongside environmental protection.
During his career, he has worked on projects aimed at improving river systems, enhancing fish passage and supporting hydropower operations that consider ecological factors as well as operational requirements.
In addition to his technical work, Postlewait is recognised within the industry for mentoring engineers and fisheries professionals. Colleagues in the hydropower and water resources sectors credit his guidance and willingness to share knowledge as influential in their professional development.
“This recognition reflects the technical and interpersonal leadership Dana has demonstrated throughout his career,” said Trevor Lykens, Chief Operations Officer at Kleinschmidt Associates. “His intelligence, humility, and optimism consistently shine in complex environments – bringing people together, navigating challenges, and advancing solutions that balance ecological, social, operational, and financial goals. Dana’s efforts and influence have made a lasting and meaningful impact on our industry.”
Kleinschmidt Associates said the award recognises Postlewait’s decades of work with clients, communities and industry stakeholders across the region.
