Malaysia has agreed to help Sudan build a US$700M hydro power project and dam on the river Nile. The proposed project, located north of Khartoum and expected to generate 2000MW of electricity, was discussed by Malyasian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad and Sudanese President Omar Hassan Al-Bashir at the ninth Organisation of Islamic Countries summit in Dohar, Qatar.
Sudan’s Industry and Investment Minister, Abdulhalim Ismail al-Mutafi, said the two countries were negotiating project details.
