The plant, expected to have a capacity of between 130-140MW, will require an investment of $240M.
Iran-based construction companies will build the project.
Meghri construction to start in early 2010
The Armenian government has announced that construction will start early next year on the Meghri hydro power plant on the Araz river, near the Azerbaijan-Iran border.
