Two more hydro power stations have been added to the national grid in Myanmar. In the northeastern Shan state, the 12MW Zawgyi station in Yaksauk township was built at a cost of US$10.26M. With its dam, it also has the capacity of supplying water for irrigating 4455ha all year round.
The 2MW Zaungtu hydro power plant on Myanmar’s Bago river, about 100km from the capital of Yangon, was also inaugurated recently.
Both power plants were equipped with machinery and equipment brought from China under contracts with China’s Yunnan Machinery and Equipment Import and Export Corporation, and China Shanghai Corporation for Foreign Economic and Technological Cooperation.
