A new guide vane has been produced for unit no 3 at the Mainskaya hydropower plant in Russia, with the equipment delivered this month, Power Machines has announced.

Among the features of the new device for Mainskaya is the use of modern antifriction material in the support units that does not require lubrication during operation. In addition, the new design of the upper ring allows the hydropower plant personnel to replace the bearings and sealing elements of the lower pins of the blades without complete disassembly of the device, which improves maintainability and reduces the customer's costs for maintenance, said Power Machines

Along with with the shipment of the finished guide vane, Power Machines company Leningradsky Metallichesky Zavod is completing work on assembling a rotary vane impeller, also intended for unit no 3.

The contract for the supply of hydro-turbine equipment for Mainskaya was signed between Power Machines and RusHydro in September 2018. Power Machines contract includes the manufacture and supply of equipment for hydraulic turbines for units 1, 2 and 3 and installation supervision services.

The project will see the capacity of each unit (at the maximum head) increase from 110MW to 113.5MW.

To date, Power Machines has manufactured a guide vane, impeller chamber, oil-filled unit, turbine automation equipment for No. 3, as well as spare parts for units 1, 2 and 3.

The full commissioning of Unit 3 is scheduled for November 2021.
