AEP completes Racine sale

4 January 2022

American Electric Power (AEP) has completed the sale of the 48MW Racine hydroelectric facility in Racine, Ohio, to Eagle Creek Renewable Energy for an undisclosed price.

AEP originally announced the sale on 9 February 2021, with the transfer approved by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission on 17 December 2021. It was sold via AEP Generation Resources, the company’s competitive generation affiliate.

With the completion of this transaction, AEP Generation Resources’ only remaining competitive facility is Cardinal Plant’s 595MW Unit 1, which is scheduled for retirement in 2028.

Eagle Creek Renewable Energy owns and operates 86 hydroelectric facilities in the US.
