AIG launches renewables insurance unit

The new unit has been named the AIG Global Alternative Energy Practice, and it will focus on the insurance, risk management and loss control needs of US-based alternative energy clients.

In additional to covering the hydro sector, the new insurance unit will also serve biofuel, geothermal, solar and wind generation businesses. While serving US-based clients, the new unit will see a global portfolio of alternative energy projects potentially under its brief.

David Reisinger, assistant VP at AIG Global Marine and Energy will manage the commercial alternative energy portfolio globally. He will report to Rick Gobbins, executive VP with the company, who will lead the new unit.
