Alstom wins supplementary order to Kiira station

The contract value is approximately US$6.4M and the scope of supply includes turbine, generator, control and governing equipment and civil works for installation of the unit in the existing power plant. The project is scheduled for completion in December 2004.

The company's hydro division in Västerås, Sweden, is responsible for the management of both projects.

Kiira Power station is located on the Nile river, 2km from its source in Lake Victoria. When the units are delivered, the station will have a capacity of 200MW, which corresponds to 50% of Uganda's total installed capacity.
