Alstom wins supply contract for Nigeria’s largest hydro plant

Alstom is to provide electro-mechanical equipment and technical services for the 700MW Zungeru hydropower project in Nigeria - the largest in the country .

China National Electric Engineering Co., Ltd. (CNEEC) awarded Alstom the €50 million contract to supply four 175MW Francis turbine-generator sets and related equipment for the project. Alstom Hydro China (AHC) will be responsible for the equipment design, manufacturing, supervision to the installation, commissioning, testing as well as site services.

Located on the middle and upper reaches of River Kaduna near Zungeru in Nigeria, Zungeru hydropower project will not only provide much needed power but will also benefit local flood protection, irrigation and shipping etc., greatly contributing to the area's social and economic growth.
