American Energy plans hydro project near Yakima

4 May 2002

American Energy of Idaho Falls, Idaho, US, is planning to build a 13.7MW hydro power plant at Rimrock Lake, 48km west of Yakima, in 2004.

The plant would use water releases from the lake behind Teton dam on the Teton river, which is managed by the US Bureau of Reclamation.

The power from the proposed US$14M plant is to be sold under a 25-year contract to the Eugene Water and Electric Board, the municipal utility serving the city of Eugene, in the state of Oregon.
