30 May 2008

The order to equip the three hydropower plants is valued at approximately Euro70M (US$109M). The plants will have a combined installed capacity of 452MW. The plants are to become operational from the end of 2010.

The cascade – consisting of the Kandil, Sariguzel and Hacininoglu plants – is being developed by Enerjisa, which is a JV of Austrian firm Osterreichische Elektrizitatswirtschafts AG and Turkish company H.O. Sabanci Holding AS.

The JV developer plans to build another six plants on the cascade to obtain a total of 1,000MW of installed capacity.

Andritz said that almost two-thirds of Turkey’s hydro plants have been equipped by the company. It gave the present installed capacity of hydro in Turkey as 13,500MW and noted that a further 4,500MW was under construction.
