12 January 1998

Axor International of Montreal, Canada, is undertaking the development of six small hydro projects on the Upper Agno River in Benguet Province, Philippines. Axor signed a joint venture agreement in January 1997, with Miescor of Manila, Philippines, to develop the project.

The joint venture has also funded a feasibility study of the project which was co-funded by CIDA (Canadian International Development Agency), Axor and Miescor.

It is expected that the feasibility study will be completed by the end of this month. Construction work on the first hydro site is to commence by July 1998.

The six hydro sites have generating potentials varying from 7.5MW to 26MW, with a total installed capacity of 102MW.
