Bauer building new dam in Mauritius

26 November 2014

BAUER Spezialtiefbau GmbH has won a EUR 35 million contract to help build the Bagatelle dam in Mauritius.

Under the terms of the contract, awarded by The Ministry of Energy and Public Utilities of Mauritius, Bauer will construct a 2.4km long diaphragm cut-off wall (57,700m2) socketed into rock. The soil partly consists of very hard basalt. A duty-cycle crane MC 96 and a MC 128 with a trench cutter and two grabs will be used.

The construction is expected to be complete by May 2015.

Bagatelle Dam is part of a major water supply project in the country. China International Water & Electric Corp has been employed as the project's main contractor.
