UK-based Halcrow has appointed Roger Flanagan (pictured) to the Halcrow Group board as non-executive director. He is Halcrow's second non-executive director following the appointment of Michael Angus last year. Flanagan is currently a professor of construction management at the University of Reading in the UK.
The US engineering and construction firm, Washington Group International, has announced that its Washington Infrastructure Services office in Atlanta, US, has been expanded under new management. The offices were operating as Raytheon Infrastructure Services, a unit of Raytheon Engineers & Constructors, but became Washington Infrastructure Services in July 2000 when Washington Group International was established as a result of Morrison Knudsen Corporation’s acquisition of Raytheon Engineers & Constructors International.
va-tech Voest, part of VA Technologie, has built a training centre in Serang/Indonesia for the Ministry of Manpower and Transmigration of the Republic of Indonesia. VA Tech will provide training assistance in the areas of electronic technology, industrial electronics and welding technology.
Finally, ABB has announced that its earnings rose 23% in 2000, despite a dip in revenues. The company has set out a strategy for sustainable growth over five years, based on its new customer-centric organisation, continuing expansion in key areas and the broadening of its industrial IT facilities across the entire customer base.
