alstom Canada’s Energy Projects business unit, now a part of the newly formed ABB Alstom Power, has won an order from SNC-Lavalin, valued at over C$7M, to modernise hydro power generation equipment at the Kerala State Electricity Board’s Panniar power station in India. This station has two groups of 18MW Francis turbines operating under a maximum head of 328m.
Under the contract, Alstom will rehabilitate the runners, speed governors and auxiliary equipment. Furthermore, the company will provide automated control systems and spherical inlet valves, and replace generator stator cores and windings. Design and fabrication will be done at the company’s Tracy facilities.
The contract includes on-site supervision of equipment installation and installation of the generator.
The Panniar contract follows orders already received for the Sengulam and Pallivassal stations from SNC-Lavalin; these projects are all located in India and represent C$37M in orders. Equipment is scheduled for delivery in two shipments in August and October of 2000.
