Call for papers released for ICOLD workshop

25 November 2002

The workshop is organised by the Ad Hoc Committee on Computational Aspects of Analysis and Design of Dams of the international-commission-on-large-dams (ICOLD). It is sponsored by the Romanian Committee on Large Dams in cooperation with the Technical University of Civil Engineering of Bucharest, Hidroconstructia Bucharest, Compania Nationala Apele Romane and Hidroelectrica.

The purpose of the workshop is to provide a critical examination of the computational methods and software used for dam analysis. For this purpose, come specific problems in concrete and embankment dam analysis are formulated and the participants are invited to solve the problems and to provide solutions that will be comparatively evaluated during the workshop. In this way, the most appropriate computational approach for each specific problem can be recommended.

Further activities such as poster sessions or round table discussions are also scheduled throughout the workshop. The poster session is open to participants interested in presenting case studies and research activities generally related to mathematical modelling for dam analysis and design. The round table discussions will be focused on the state of the art and new directions of development in the dams mathematical analysis field.

For further information and an application form for prospective authors, please contact Professor Adrian Popovici on tel: +40 21 2421870, fax: +40 21 2421870 or email: popovici@hidro.utcb.ro.
