Chinese deal signed for Yellow river hydro project

3 November 2004

The new contract includes the supply of 5 x 711MW turbines to the project site in China’s Qinghai province with commissioning of the first unit scheduled for 2008 and project completion in 2011.

The Laxiwa project is to be operated by the Yellow River Upper Stream Hydropower Project Development Company, part of the China Power Investment Corporation.

It is expected to be the largest hydroelectric facility on the Yellow river, and will deliver electricity to eastern regions of China.
