Construction begins on the world’s largest RCC dam

Construction of the Tha Dan dam in Thailand has begun. The dam, said to be the largest RCC dam in the world, will use 5M m3 of concrete, including 4.5M m3 of RCC.

The Royal Irrigation Department of Thailand has appointed a consortium to supervise construction which consists of: coyne-et-bellier of France; Team Consulting Engineers of Thailand and Asdecon Corporation of Thailand which will lead the consortium. The same consortium prepared the detailed design and tender documents.

The construction contract has been awarded to JV CCVK, a joint-venture comprising Thai and Chinese contractors.
