Discover the potential of Africa

8 June 2001

Hydro is the only significant grid-connected renewable energy in Africa, and has huge potential in countries like Mozambique, but what role should it play in future development?

What favours the construction of the Bujagali Falls above the impact it will have on the people and environment? Who will finance hydro development? Where are the opportunities and what are the costs?

Discuss possible solutions to these and other hydro-related questions concerning Africa at the Africa Energy Forum (24-26 June, Lyon, France).

Government ministers, representatives and heads of utilities from Algeria, Angola, Chana, Ivory Coast, Kenya, Mali, Mozambique, Namibia, Nigeria, Senegal, South Africa, Uganda and Zimbabwe will attend the event, which is being sponsored by big names like edf, Aggreko, Cinergy, Pa Consulting and Shell.
