E-CO Energi awards upgrade contracts in Norway

9 July 2004

Scope of supply is to include two new runners for the plant’s Francis turbines, raising the capacity of each from 42MW to 49MW at a head of 350m; the redesign of turbine parts; supervision of erection and commissioning.

Delivery of the first runner to the E-CO Energi owned facility is scheduled for September 2005, with commissioning expected one month later. The second runner will be shipped to the site, located on Norway’s Hemsila river, in 2006. Once the refurbished turbines are commissioned, efficiency is to be increased by over 2%.

The other contract is for the upgrade of three vertical Pelton turbines at Aurland 1, another E-CO plant, with work expected to be completed by September 2006.
