EDF in team to study Kambarata schemes in Kyrgyz Republic

The winning joint venture’s bid was Rub73.8M (US$3M) for the contract, announced Inter RAO UES, which chaired the tripartite tender committee. The contract is to be formally started shortly.

EDF and PricewaterhouseCoopers beat off two rival bids, from SNC-Lavalin International and Mott MacDonald.

The tender competition was announced in May 2007 and was originally o be concluded in August, but the bidders’ requests for extensions led to the eventual end of the first procurement effort, and in September 2007 bids were invited once again.

As the tender competition was being processed in compliance with three-way resolutions between Russia, the Kyrgyz Republic and Kazakhstan, each country was represented by an energy firm - Inter RAO UES, Elekricheskiye Stantsil and KazKuat, respectively.
