16 August 2007

andritz va-tech Hydro has an order worth approximately Euro235M (US$315M), or almost 45% of the total order volume obtained by the European supply and engineering consortium. The other members of the European JV are alstom, Ed Zublin, Stucky, Colenco and Maggia.

Financing for the scheme was supported by the export credit agencies of Austria, Germany and Switzerland in a signing ceremony in Turkey with the General Directorate of State Hydraulic Works (DSI), as IWP&DC reported yesterday. The signing fulfilled proposals they set out earlier this year, including conditions related to environment, resettlement and archaeology.

The Ilisu project calls for construction of a 135m high by 1820m long dam and power house on the Tigris river at a budget of around US$1.6B. In a statement today, Andritz va-tech-hydro said the completion date for the scheme was 2014/15. The schedule had previously been indicated to be about 2013.

Other key, local firms involved in the project are Nurol, Cengiz, Dolsar, Rast, and Temelsu.

The Ilisu dam, part of the Southern Anatolia Project masterplan for many dams and hydro plants, will be built 45km north of the border with Syria.
