Flood control quartet planned for Nakdong

From 2004-2008, Gunwi in North Gyeongsang province will see the construction of Hwabuk a multipurpose dam, and the largest of the four planned for the region. It will have an annual production in the region of 2870MWh and supply some 38Mt of water to surrounding towns per year.

The remaining dams are to be built in the towns of Sangju, Gimcheon and Youngju with all four scheduled to be in place by 2011.
