French consortium for Jordan dam

A French consortium of Bec Freres and Campenon Bernard has won a US$33.6M contract to build the Tannur dam, a key element in Jordan’s Southern Ghors Development Project. The dam, to be completed in 24months, will have a storage capacity of 17M m3. The Development project is being part-financed by the Kuwait-based Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development. The consultant is the UK’s Mott MacDonald.

A Greek/Bosnian consortium of Aegek and Hydrogradnja recently won the contract to build the other two dams in the Southern Ghors project. Consultants for those two dams are coyne-et-bellier (for Wala) and a joint venture of lahmeyer International and Hamza Associates (for Mujib).
